EMBATTLED es un juego de un solo botón de ritmo rápido.
Te mueves constantemente hacia arriba y hacia abajo mientras los enemigos de ambos lados te disparan y se acercan a tu posición. Para cambiar su dirección, presione un botón o presione la parte superior o inferior de la pantalla. Mantén pulsado un botón para quedarte quieto y coloca escudos para protegerte de los disparos enemigos. Pero cuando tienes los escudos levantados, los enemigos disparan más rápido y se mueven hacia ti. Intenta esquivar los disparos enemigos y haz que se golpeen entre sí para sumar puntos.
El juego termina cuando un disparo enemigo te golpea.
